This is what Jamaican people hear about in commercials and see on billboard ads, but beneath the surface lies the gangs, political struggle, armed police and poverty.This is the mother who gaved birth to Ras Emmanuel. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Ras Emmanuel grew up with music in his soul, performing and making radio dubs for local DJ's and local radio stations. As a young teen, Ras Emmanuel was selected to appear at The Red Label Wine contest to represent the parish of St. Catherine during time he was discovered by legendary DJ extraordinair, I Roy. Ras Emmanuel earned money by working as a construction worker and fisherman. He also earned money by digging sand and pushing through garbage dumps to find salvaged metal and plastics. He made enough money to travel to the United States for the purpose for pursuing a career as writer, performer and entertainer.
Ras Emmanuel is very diligent and serious about his career spending countless nights in studio, performing on subway platforms, clubs and in parks. he has been asked to perform with some of Jamaica's finest, such as: Yami Bolo & Capleton.
Glen Washington, brigadier jerry, Johnny Osbourne, Mama Nancy, Sista Carol, Gyptian and one of Jamaica bestknown bend the Fab Five, Bounty Killa, Movado, Bennie Man, Lady Saw, Elephant Man and Sizzla. Ras Emmanuel also opened up for the legendary Rootz Artistis, The Abyssinians and for Jamaica's Songbird, Sanchez, Stewie from the Cables, Carline Davis, Everton Blender, Half Pint, Leroy Sibles, Screw Driver and John Wayne just to name a few.
